We invite you to participate in the 2nd Global Conference on Anaesthetics, Perioperative & Pain Medicine in the Cancer Patient, in Melbourne, March 2014.
This is part of a global initiative to improve perioperative cancer care and follows the success of the 1st Global Conference held at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center—the #1 Ranked USA Cancer Center.
The importance of this initiative is illustrated by the increasing incidence of cancer worldwide and the emerging concept that anaesthetic technique may impact on cancer outcomes. Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine allows modern surgery to innovate and advance, creating greater opportunities for new technical wizardry and talented surgeons to perform more complex operations—giving cancer patients greater hope. Anaesthesia has been dubbed ‘the lifeline to modern medicine’. It is imperative that we stay abreast of emerging concepts in perioperative medicine that relate to the cancer patient.
This conference will bring together perioperative clinicians (surgeons, anesthesiologists, intensive care physicians, pain physicians, and nurses) for an educational event that focuses on current and future anesthesia, surgical, critical care and pain management techniques that are unique to the cancer patient population; and importantly to further the aims of the global initiative by promoting collaborative educational and research efforts to ensure optimal perioperative care for the cancer patient.
We invite you to participate in an exciting 3 day conference comprising:
Symposium:
* Preoperative Medicine in the Cancer Patient (3-day symposium)
* Pain Medicine in the Cancer Patient (1- day symposium)
Workshops
* Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing and Prehabilitation
This conference will run parallel to the annual "Colorectal Cancer - A multidisciplinary approach" conference hosted by the Division of Cancer Surgery at Peter MacCallum Cancer Center, and which attracts surgical and medical oncologists.
